Appointments and Fees Policy
Payment and Medicare Information
- Full payment is required on the day of consultation
- Payments must be made by credit card/EFTPOS, or via a secure payment link sent to you
- We do not accept cash or direct bank transfers
- A valid referral is required to claim a Medicare rebate for all paediatrician appointments
- GP referrals are generally valid for 12 months and specialist referrals for 3 months
- Medicare claims are usually processed after your appointment, with rebates paid by Medicare into your nominated bank account within 2 to 5 business days
- Your child must attend the appointment for a Medicare rebate to apply (if you wish to discuss sensitive matters during your appointment, you may wish to bring a support person for your child)
- Some Medicare item numbers can only be claimed once within a defined timeframe, for example item 132 can be claimed once every 12 months
- Telehealth consultations are charged at the same rate as face-to-face appointments
- Private health insurance generally does not cover paediatric consultations
Prescription Requests
- Repeat prescriptions may be provided at the doctor’s discretion without an appointment
- Your child must have attended an appointment at our clinic within the last 12 months, or 6 months for stimulant medications
- Requests for repeat prescriptions must be submitted via our website: https://bhckids.com.au/
- Changes to medication type or dosage require a scheduled appointment
- A fee of $50 applies for single prescription requests, or up to $70 for multiple prescriptions
Medical Reports, Forms, and Authorities
- Please discuss any requests for medical reports, forms, or authorities with your doctor or our reception team
- Requests will be forwarded to the relevant clinician
- Fees vary depending on the complexity and time required and must be paid before completed documents are released
Telehealth Pre-Payment Policy
- Payment in advance is required for all telehealth appointments, including new and review consultations.
- Payment is required 7 days before the appointment date or at least 48 hours before the appointment if scheduled within the next 7 days
- You will receive a secure payment link by SMS or email
- If payment is not received by the required timeframe, the appointment will be cancelled and offered to patients on our waitlist
- If the appointment fee is less than your prepayment we will process a refund for the difference to you, through the card used for your initial payment
Cancellation and Non-Attendance Policy
- We require at least 2 business days’ notice for appointment cancellations.
- Cancellations made with less than 2 business days’ notice may incur a cancellation fee, up to the full cost of the appointment.
- Non-attendance without notice will also incur a fee equivalent to the booked consultation.
- If you have made a prepayment, we may allocate this to cover some (or all) of the cancellation fee.
- If your appointment does not require pre-payment or a deposit, we will send a payment link for the cancellation fee to be paid before rescheduling your child’s next appointment.
Late Arrivals
We understand that delays can happen. Please notify us by phone or email if you expect to arrive more than 5 minutes late.
- Late arrival may result in a shortened consultation or the need to reschedule
- Appointments missed due to late arrival may incur cancellation fees
If You or Your Child Are Unwell
- Please notify us as soon as possible if your child or a carer is unwell before a scheduled appointment
- Telehealth may be offered if clinically appropriate
- We ask that children or carers infectious symptoms stay home and use telehealth if possible to protect others in the clinic.
